Professor Guy Goodwin

Emeritus Professor of Psychiatry, Univeristy of Oxford

Professor Goodwin’s research interests are in the treatment of bipolar disorder and the application of neuroscience and technology in understanding the neurobiology of mood disorders, with a focus on developing new treatments.

Professor Goodwin was formerly W.A.Handley Chair of Psychiatry and head of the University department of Psychiatry (1996-2011).

He is a Fellow of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology, and has previously held the positions of President of the British Association for Psychopharmacology (2004–2005) and of the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP, 2013-2016).

Professor Goodwin is also an Emeritus Senior Investigator on the faculty of UK National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), and a Thomson Reuters highly cited researcher (top 1% in field).
